Adsorbent Bag Decontaminates Ethidium Bromide Waste Solutions
An easy-to-use disposal kit that concentrates ethidium bromide (EtBr) from large volumes of liquid into a more easily and economically disposed solid hazardous waste is now available from Qbiogene. Capable of removing up to 500 mg of EtBr from electrophoresis solutions, the EtBr Green Bag Disposal Kit provides lab personnel with a rapid and trouble-free means of decontaminating both colored and colorless ethidium bromide solutions.
The decontamination process with the Qbiogene EtBr Green Bag Disposal Kit is quick, simple, and extremely safe. An adsorbent green bag is simply placed in the EtBr waste solution and stirred overnight at room temperature. The bag acts like a sponge, removing and concentrating the EtBr from the solution. The bag is then removed for disposal as a solid hazardous waste. Ethidium bromide solutions decontaminated with this technique display background mutagenesis similar to that of pure water (by the Ames II Mutagenicity Assay).
The Qbiogene EtBr Green Bag Disposal Kit contains 50 bags, each capable of efficiently and effectively solidifying 10 mg of EtBr. As with all Qbiogene products, the kit is competitively priced, available in stock for immediate shipment, and backed by comprehensive technical support. For more information, visit their website at www.qbiogene.com , E-mail
