The decontamination process with the Qbiogene EtBr Green Bag Disposal Kit is quick, simple, and extremely safe. An adsorbent green bag is simply placed in the EtBr waste solution and stirred overnight at room temperature. The bag acts like a sponge, removing and concentrating the EtBr from the solution. The bag is then removed for disposal as a solid hazardous waste. Ethidium bromide solutions decontaminated with this technique display background mutagenesis similar to that of pure water (by the Ames II Mutagenicity Assay).
