New FastRNA Pro® Kits Purify RNA
from Soil Samples
Qbiogene has introduced two new kits for efficiently isolating RNA from organic material in soil samples. Developed for use with its popular BIO 101® Systems FastPrep® Instrument, the FastRNA® Pro Soil Kits enable researchers to lyse and process total RNA from gram positive cells, plant materials, and other soil borne organic debris in less than two hours. The intact RNA is suitable for RT-PCR and other downstream applications.
The FastRNA Pro Soil-Direct Kit is designed to isolate RNA directly from soil samples. The researcher simply adds a 0.5 g of soil material to a 2 mL closed tube containing Lysing Matrix E and processes it with the FastPrep Instrument for approximately 40 seconds. Total RNA is released into a protective solution and then extracted, precipitated, and cleaned with the proprietary RNAMATRIX® and a Quick-Clean Spin Filter. Both the lysis and purifying solutions are specially formulated to reduce humic acid levels and protect RNA during processing. For researchers who prefer working with soil sample supernatants, a FastRNA Pro Soil-Indirect Kit is available. With this kit, cellular material is first washed away from soil particles and centrifuged prior to lysing and processing with the FastPrep Instrument.
