New PhoenIX Ion Exchange Plasmid Purification Kits 

Qbiogene has introduced a new system for the fast purification of plasmid DNA from bacterial samples. Designed to provide high yields and superior purity, the PhoenIX Ion Exchange Plasmid Purification System utilizes a unique solid-phase column with patented ion exchange resin to both optimize purification and enhance the degree of separation between different biomolecules. Plasmid DNA purified with PhoenIX columns can be used immediately in a wide variety of downstream applications, including automated fluorescence sequencing, amplification, labeling, transcription, cloning, and other enzymatic manipulations. In addition, remaining endotoxin levels in the isolated DNA are low enough to permit successful transfection in even sensitive cell lines. The PhoenIX system can be used for purification of constructs up to 150 kb and requires no hazardous materials.

PhoenIX Ion Exchange Plasmid Purification Systems are available for isolating ultrapure plasmid DNA from bacterial culture volumes ranging from 15 mL to 5 liters. The Midiprep Kit provides up to 100 ug of plasmid DNA from 15 to 100 mL samples; the Maxiprep Kit isolates up to 500 µg of plasmid DNA from 100 to 500 mL samples; and the Gigaprep Kit provides up to 10 mg of plasmid DNA from each 2.5 to 5.0 liters of bacterial culture. The PhoenIX Midiprep and Maxiprep kits rely on centrifugation to clear the bacterial lysate and on gravity to pull the liquids through the column material. The Gigaprep kit is driven by vacuum and offers lysate clearing via a filtration cartridge. The Gigaprep kit includes a purification protocol for high copy plasmids, while the Midiprep and Maxiprep kits have protocols for both high and low copy plasmids.
