Adventitious contaminaton of PCR reactions with primers or amplication products from previous reactions is a major source of false positive results. UV irradiation at 254 nm of the equipment and consumables used in PCR (pipettes, tips, tubes etc) is a fast and convenient way of neutralizing such contamination. The Template Tamer employs UV light at 254 nm to dimerize adjacent pyrimidine molecules in contaminating DNA template prior to performing PCR. This makes contaminating DNA unreadable for any polymerase.

Unique reflector system

The Template Tamer's unique reflector focuses UV light to provide fast, efficient de-contamination of the PCR workspace.

Practical design

The operator has "both-arms access" to the workstation via the two doors and can switch to white light to comfortably illuminate the PCR work area.

Operator Safety

The Template Tamer employs thick acrylic panels that give total protection for laboratory personnel. Safety switches shut off the UV light if the door is opened.

Timer

An electronic timer is incorporated for convenience and to ensure maximum UV-lamp lifetime.
