Agar-B
Bacteriological grade Agar-B demonstrates a superior ability to
promote bacterial colony growth (colony diameter after 24 and
48 hours) and phage growth (plaque diameter and morphology
of both M13 and Lambda bacteriophages). Agar-B is supplied
as a light, tan-colored, small granular form.

Pour your plates in advance saving time and effort
- Ready-to-use X-Gal/IPTG solution
- Stable at 4° C
- Stable when plated with agar and antibiotics
- Non-toxic solution (no DMF, no DMSO)
- For blue/white screening in bacteria and mammalian cells
With Qbiogene’s XTRA-Blue™ Plus X-Gal/IPTG solution no
DMF/DMSO is required. XTRA-Blue™ Plus is a ready-made
solution containing X-Gal and IPTG that maintains its functional
activity for months at 4°C. Due to its high stability
XTRA-Blue™ Plus can be mixed with agar and antibiotics and
poured in plates in advance of requirements. For the user this
means a valuable saving in time and effort.
XTRA-Blue™ Plus solution contains non-hazardous, non-toxic
solvents and so is also suitable for use with cultured
mammalian cells.
Storage at 4°C avoids the freeze-thaw cycles that can impair the
quality of X-Gal and IPTG leading to greater reliability of results.
Another remarkable advantage of XTRA-Blue™ Plus is its efficiency
as a substrate - no incubation at 4°C is needed to generate
a bright blue coloration for "negative" colonies.
Quality control
Each batch is tested against classical X-Gal/IPTG method, with 2 different strains expressing
pUC19 (high copy plasmid) or BAC2 (low copy plasmid).
Sterility
XTRA-Blue™ Plus is filtered through 0.22 micron membrane.

Plating Tools

|
| |
Roll & Grow® Plating Beads
| Safely and easily spread yeast and bacterial cells |
|
- Spread cells in just seconds per plate
- Eliminate hazards of flame and ethanol
- No need for fragile glass “hockey sticks”
- Consistent, even colony distribution
- Sterile and easy to use
|
 |
Roll & Grow® Plating Beads are used to spread 25-400 µl of
bacterial or yeast cells across the surface of an agar plate, providing
a safer, faster alternative to the traditional method of
plating with a glass rod sterilized with ethanol and flame.
Sterile Roll & Grow® Plating Beads are provided in two
skirted 50 ml conical tubes. Between six and seven 4 mm glass
beads are used per plate for a total of approximately 160 standard
100 mm plates.

Replica Plating Apparatus
Made from hardwood, the Replica Plating Apparatus can be
used with velvet, gauze, or even paper
towels to transfer colonies from plate to
plate or plate to filter while retaining
colony orientation. The Replica Plating
Apparatus and Velvet Squares can be
ordered to fit either 100 mm or 150 mm
plates. |
