Quality

As with all our prepared media, custom formulations exceed quantitative standards such as pH and clarity. Additionally, all amino acid dropouts are certified by HPLC. Unique custom recipes undergo as many qualitative tests as possible given the nature and confidentiality of the specific strain or formulation.

Packaging Convenience

Custom formulations are available in a wide variety of formats, and the guidelines below cover most typical research requests. Pre-Mixed Powder

Custom powder formulations for yeast, bacterial, and other growth media are offered in 500 g increments packaged in 500 g containers. A minimum order of 500 g is required. Synthetic defined dropout media for yeast is offered in 200 g bottles and a minimum order of 200 g is required. Larger sizes can be made available depending upon the quantity required per month.

Single-Use Pouches

Each single pouch generally contains enough powdered media to prepare either 0.5 L or 1.0 L of media, up to 60 grams. Pouches are sold in packs of 10, and the minimum order is 2 packs of 0.5 L pouches.

Encapsulated Media

Each standard capsule contains approximately 1 g of powder, and each large capsule contains 5-6 g of powder. The minimum order size is 500 grams.

Sterile Liquid Media*

Sterile liquid media is available in either 500 ml or 1.0 L bottles. The minimum order size is 2.0 L.

Bulk Sterile Liquid Media*

Sterile liquid media is available in 20 L bags contained within stackable cardboard boxes. Please contact the Technical Support Department for minimum order quantities.

Pre-Poured Agar Plates*

In addition to the standard 100 mm and 150 mm round plates, Qbiogene offers the following custom sizes for pre-poured plates: 86 x 128 mm for 96-well applications, 100 x 100 mm square plates, 234 x 243 mm dishes for agar diffusion assays, and any other size where you can supply the plate. In most cases, plates are sold in sleeves of ten. For yeast media, the minimum order is 5 sleeves of 10 plates. For bacterial media, the minimum order is 2 sleeves of 10 plates. How to Order Custom Media

To receive a price quote for your custom media, contact the Qbiogene Technical Support Department with the following information:

• Exact recipe for your media in grams per liter
• Any specific requirements regarding the preparation and/or sterilization of your media
• Indication of any proprietary or confidential components
• Specific information on form of media (powder, pouch, capsule, liquid, plate)
• Total quantity desired for first order
• Approximate number of times this quantity could be ordered per year
