Qbiogene's First Strand Synthesis Opti-Kit is designed for optimizing the production of first-strand cDNA from total RNA or poly(A) RNA template. The kit permits the user to test both M-MuLV and AMV Reverse Transcriptase and make the best choice since each enzyme has specific advantages. With certain templates, for example, generating adequate yields of full length cDNA may require an RT with low RNase H activity, in which case the M-MuLV RT should provide the best result. Some templates may contain a high degree of secondary structure and so demand the use of an RT able to withstand higher reaction temperatures, in which case AMV Reverse Transcriptase would probably give the best performance. The First Strand Synthesis Kit is therefore a very convenient answer to the problem of optimizing reverse transcription.

Both oligo(dT) and random octamers are included as alternative to specific primers.
